Chloe Gaume

Chloe Gaume is a fourth-year undergraduate student with a major in English at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). For her thesis in the English Departmental Honors Program, Chloe is writing a creative project made up of a collection of poems, short stories, and personal essays exploring language acquisition and the difficulties of gaining fluency in language. This collection will be written in French and English as a personal experiment on writing pieces that weave the two languages. While completing her coursework at UCLA, she noticed that works that include both English and French are rarely interwoven to create a cohesive story. Chloe attempts to limit this divide by combining French and English in this collection. Throughout her time at UCLA, she has focused on developing her research skills through independent research about autistic representation in animated short films in the Academic Advancement Program (AAP)’s Research Rookies program and as a Bunche Fellow conducting STEM-related research projects. After graduation, Chloe hopes to pursue a career in research. In her free time, she enjoys journaling and photography.
