Zoe Reinecke
Zoe Reinecke is a fourth-year majoring in International Development Studies and minoring in Education. After working with refugees and anti-human trafficking organizations in Europe during the summer of 2018, Zoe returned to the United States eager to determine strategies to decrease the vulnerability of refugees to human trafficking. Through her studies and academic research experiences, Zoe identified education provision as a promising method to accomplish this goal. This internship experience provides the foundation for her current research of the historical integration of access to quality education in refugee protocols. To complement this international legal analysis, Zoe’s research investigates the existing national legal frameworks and the barriers that prevent refugees from being granted access to quality education in Jordan and Kenya. She will conduct interviews with policymakers, program managers, and refugees in Jordan and Kenya to develop policy recommendations that intend to improve accountability measures in the delivery of education to refugees.
