Zach Martinucci
Zach Martinucci is a fourth year student pursuing degrees in Anthropology and Italian. He has always loved to cook and prides himself on being a young foodie. This project combines many of Zach’s passions — including travel, Italian language and culture, storytelling, and identity — into an ethnographic study of local culinary traditions based in Bologna, Italy. This region is known for a number of famous Italian dishes and has seen an increase in tourism and immigration in recent years, positioning itself as a globalized community as well as a traditional Italian town. Zach’s project studies the political and social tensions surrounding the maintenance of local traditions, spaces, and identity through food. Zach is an aspiring chef and restaurateur, excited to make an impact on the way we produce, value, teach, and talk about food.
