Vanessa Kimiko Castro

Vanessa is a senior at UCLA working towards a B.A. in Psychology. She has been involved in research on well-being as well as anxiety and depression. She is currently working on an honors thesis investigating how third-party relationship knowledge (e.g., knowing that someone is a ‘friend-of-a-friend’) impacts prosocial behavior. In addition, she wants to know if our motives to behave altruistically results from wanting to protect our reputations. Vanessa plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology with a focus on personality development and how close relationships, specifically friendships, affect behavior and growth.
