Sihui Lin

Sihui Lin is a third-year student from Shanghai, China. She double majors in Architectural Studies and Statistics, and is also pursuing double minors in Digital Humanities and English. She is passionate about exploring critical issues surrounding memory and cultural institutions. Her research project revolves around the series of Christmas gift books of William Andrews Clark, Jr., produced by his personal printer, John Henry Nash. By combining traditional archival research and digital humanities methods, her research seeks to understand how Clark’s personal objectives, financial considerations, and artistic choices influenced Nash’s printing of the Christmas Books. Focusing on the intersection of patronage and private press printing, her research hopes to offer new perspectives on the dynamics underpinning the forces that molded California’s printing culture renaissance.
