Sara Wang

Sara Wang is a fourthyear student majoring in Political Science. Her honors thesis analyzes the extent to which a nonmajoritarian institution responds to majoritarian interests on salient issues. This research investigates the Supreme Court and public opinion on abortion. Sara utilizes public opinion polls, news data sources, and Congressional legislation to measure salience. She aims to broaden her academic understanding of how the Supreme Court has reacted to majoritarian pressures since Roe v. Wade (1973).
Outside of academics, Sara is highly involved in politics. An organizer with legislative experience around reproductive justice, Sara is passionate about highlighting the issue of abortion. Currently, she serves as 1st Vice Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus of the Young Democrats of America. In the past, she has also served as a College Representative of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats and President of Bruin Democrats at UCLA. After graduation, Sara will consider either a degree in law and/or public policy. Her goal is to continue working in the public interest to aid and empower underserved communities.
