Michelle Lee

Michelle Lee is a fourth-year majoring in Statistics and minoring in Digital Humanities. Her research project in collaboration with Professor Todd Presner examines how computational tools can be applied to large corpora of text, namely Holocaust survivor testimonial interviews. Specifically, she is researching the applications of Sentence Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (SBERT), an adaptation of Google’s existing natural language processing algorithm (NLP). In doing so, she hopes her project will provide new outlets to educate and empower others to learn more about the significance of the Holocaust and suggest new methods for parsing through large amounts of textual data.
