Margaret Gallagher
Maggie Gallagher is in her fourth year at UCLA, double majoring in Anthropology and Fine Art. She grew up in Berkeley, California and was very influenced by the environmental values of her family and her community. Her senior thesis in Anthropology focuses on the understandings and experiences of the issue of climate change among young adults in Miami, one of the most climate-vulnerable cities in the United States. Through interviews with these Miami residents,
she is investigating if and how they see themselves and their local environment in relation to the global issue of climate change, whether their knowledge of and potential experiences with climate change impacts their perceptions of their futures, and how risks and changes associated with climate change in Miami specifically have been represented to them, and in what forms and contexts.
