Lingxi Zhang
Lingxi Zhang is a third-year student at UCLA, pursuing a double major in Sociology and Statistics and Data Science. Lingxi’s research interests are firmly grounded in addressing issues of social stratification, labor market inequalities, and immigration dynamics. Her current focus in the URSP project is to compare the experiences of Chinese food delivery workers and retail workers. Through quantitative analysis, such as survey, Lingxi aims to comprehensively evaluate various aspects, including living conditions, mental well-being, family dynamics, and income, with a particular emphasis on the impact of the delivery job on workers’ physical and mental health. By horizontally comparing two relatively low-income and low-educated populations, Lingxi seeks to illuminate the adverse effects of delivery work in the absence of adequate support from either the government or employers. Post-graduation, Lingxi aspires to pursue a doctoral program in sociology, continuing to delve into the complexities of societal inequalities and labor dynamics.
