Guadalupe Madrigal
Guadalupe Madrigal is a fourth year Communication Studies major, Chicana/o Studies minor who is pursuing both College and Departmental Honors. She is the daughter of immigrants, and is the first in her Mexican-American family to attend a university for a bachelor’s degree. Guadalupe’s research focuses on the use of news and newspapers for archiving and disseminating histories, and in particular Mexican American history. More specifically, her work aims to re-insert the narratives of ethnic Mexican newspapers as they pertain to major events of immigration and deportation to create a more comprehensive lens of Mexican history in the United States. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree from UCLA in 2017, Guadalupe plans to attend graduate school, receive a doctorate in Communication Studies and have a career as a Professor at a research university.
