Arely López

Arely López (she/her) is a Salvadoran and Mexican-American fourth-yearundergraduate earning a double major in Geography/Environmental Studies and Political Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Her senior year research thesis focuses on the relationship between carbon offset projects and their environmental and socioeconomic impacts in Latin America under California’s cap-and-trade system. Through her research, she analyzes sustainability policies aimed toward decarbonization and their negative externalities on a community level. Arely strives to unpack in the intersections between the environment, technology, and policy as she aspires to pursue a career that works towards building a green, equitable economy that is inclusive to underrepresented communities
