Erica Hightower
Erica is a Junior majoring in American Literature and Culture. She is fascinated by origin stories, library archives, and cross cultural contact zones. Her current research examines the intersection of Black and Indigenous America from the point of view of autobiographical literature. Her goal for this project is to approach the autobiography as a location to study how “mixed-race” Black and Indigenous peoples use language to respond to racialization, oppression, and negotiate their status in society.
Erica was born and raised in the City of Angeles and identifies as a free Spirit. When she’s not picking up books at the library, you can find her outdoors on a hike, eating a piece of fruit, and saying hi to every dog she passes on the street.
