Amanda Lim Tang

Amanda Tang transferred to UCLA in the Fall of 2021 from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California where she received her Associate’s degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Sociology, Liberal Studies, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is now a Senior majoring in Sociology and minoring in Education. For the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, she researches how politics and education intersect in the United States. Her vision for the research project is to use historical methods to interpret how the purpose of education has changed over time due to the legislation governing it and analyze how these factors contribute heavily to the culture surrounding education. Her hope with this project is to better understand the education system and students’ experiences in it in order to implement a stronger “love for learning” within students today.
