Madina Safdari
Madina Safdari is a fourth-year transfer student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education Studies. She is the proud daughter of immigrants from Afghanistan and is the first in her family to attend university. She was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and previously attended Moorpark College. At UCLA, Safdari is a transfer student mentor, writes for the Daily Bruin, and is a research assistant in a developmental psychology lab. Safdari’s research project aims to quantify the unique experiences of the UCLA transfer population. She is specifically interested in the prevalence of transfer shock and transfer stigma as well as if certain demographics experience these issues more significantly than others. With the completion of this project, Safdari hopes it can help UCLA better allocate resources and outreach to vulnerable transfer populations.
