Ellie Knox
Ellie Knox is a third-year Psychology student at UCLA and a research assistant in the UCLA Language and Cognitive Development Lab. She is passionate about the intersection of psychology and education, with a particular interest in strategies to activate cognitive processes that enhance children’s learning and promote effective teaching practices. Her research project investigates how gestures facilitate children’s analogical reasoning, assessing whether their understanding of these gestures is explicit or implicit by evaluating their ability to articulate the relational meanings behind them. Through this project, she aims to reveal insights into the way children learn and process information, which can inform teaching practices to elicit conscious understanding. Ultimately, she hopes that by exploring children’s awareness of their own knowledge, her research will contribute to broader efforts to foster confidence and engagement in educational contexts. After graduation, she intends to pursue graduate studies to become a school psychologist and support students’ diverse learning needs.
