Ellen Ohler

Ellen Ohler is a fourth-year political science and economics double major. With the support of the Keck Award, she is completing a departmental honors thesis exploring the relationship between the rise of social media and the decline in viewpoint tolerance. She hopes her research will contribute to a deeper understanding of changes in political norms in the modern Western world. Ellen is also an intern at the Political Violence Lab, where she is involved in projects examining the determinants of international media reporting and bias in media coverage of social unrest and natural disasters. Outside of academics, Ellen loves traveling, visiting art museums, baking, and listening to music. After graduation, she hopes to continue her research by pursuing a PhD in political science with a focus on comparative politics and ultimately becoming a professor.
