Kayla Teng

Kayla Teng is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Statistics and Data Science and minoring in Education Studies. Since Fall 2022, she has been an undergraduate researcher at the UCLA National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST) under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Chung. Her research project will analyze existing data to design, develop, and validate game-based indicators of computational thinking and problem-solving in a block-based programming game. She hopes that her research will advance the assessment field by providing an alternative way to measure children’s knowledge and skills and lead to wider acceptance of games as formative assessments. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a PhD in educational quantitative methods.
