Taylor Babaian

Taylor Babaian is an Anthropology major currently pursuing both College and Departmental Honors.  Her research “What is The Cost of Beauty; The Economics of Plastic Surgery Amongst Women in South Korea” seeks to understand why the country holds the #1 position for the highest rate per capita of plastic surgery in the world. Taylor became interested in the subject after refusing to undergo double eyelid surgery as a teenager. This past summer she conducted intensive fieldwork in Seoul, Korea and hopes that her research will elucidate what is currently lacking in anthropological discourse; the mechanisms by which reproduction is made possible and the effects they have on women in the area. Taylor is a non-traditional student. She is currently applying for graduate school and intends to pursue her master’s in business administration with a focus on entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility.
