Sarah Marie Hambro

My name is Sarah Hambro, and I am currently a senior double majoring in English and Communications with a minor in Literature and the Environment. My research project investigates the intersections between identity, politics, and the environment through the analysis of several canonical works of the Romantic era, a time period notable for its simultaneity with the Industrial Revolution, which wrought rapid social and environmental change. In exploring how identities and transnational anxieties manifest themselves in representations of the physical landscape, I hope to identify how present concerns with immigration and climate change are shaped by the ‘natural’ discourses of an earlier age.
