Mackenna Dixon is a 4th year transfer student majoring in Sociology and minoring in Anthropology. She is currently pursuing both College and Departmental honors in hopes of commencing graduate school in the Fall. Under the guidance of Professor Zsuzsa Berend, Mackenna has initiated research in an effort to gain a greater understanding of what sociology looks like outside the classroom. Her research is focused in San Bernardino County with its varied socioeconomics. Mackenna applies her skills in ethnography, observation, and interviews to compare the relationship between outdoor use in people with differing socioeconomic statuses. Mackenna would like to thank Professor Berend for her guidance and patience. In addition, Mackenna extends her gratitude to the Waingrow Research Scholarship and their support of her research.
