Lyra (Bomi) Kim
Lyra Bomi Kim is an undergraduate student with majors in Political Science and Asian American Studies, and a minor in Labor & Workplace Studies. She presented at research week last year, and through the experience gained the motivation and confidence to apply for URSP to expand her research.
Lyra’s ethnography project is about how children of immigrants came together to find their own sense of belonging, not created by their given ethnicity or nationality, but their chosen music. She hopes that through this project, people who felt rejected by both their country of origin and the U.S. can know that there is home for them that is not bound to any nation. Lyra is currently pursuing graduate school and hopes to keep creating work that will bring healing and empowerment to struggling communities.
