Isabel Leamon

Isabel Leamon is a fourth-year undergraduate student double majoring in Psychology and Anthropology. She is from Davis, California, and her hobbies include running, music, cooking, and hiking. She has been a research assistant in Dr. Tiffany Brannon’s Culture and Contact Lab (CCL) for the past year. CCL studies the impact of multicultural engagement and the dynamics of intergroup interaction. Isabel’s research examines intergroup relations between racial minority groups. Specifically, her study examines how biculturalism shapes Asian Americans’ attitudes towards Black Americans in the face of anti-Asian discrimination in the United States. Participants are primed with different cultural stimuli as well as experiences with discrimination. Attitudes towards Black Americans are assessed immediately and three months later by measuring implicit associations, support for racially divisive policy issues, and friendship networks. Isabel will graduate in the spring of 2018. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Social Psychology. She would like to thank Dr. Brannon and everyone in CCL for all their support and assistance.
