Erik Salazar

My name is Erik Salazar and I am a fourth year History major. Although my major field of study lies within the realm of the social sciences, my academic interests lie at the intersection of north and south campus, with the medical humanities. Ultimately, I aspire to attend medical school, with the strong hope of completing a dual degree in the history of medicine, medical anthropology, or bioethics. On campus, I am highly involved with Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine and the Medication Assistance Program. Off-campus, I volunteer at the California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles via COPE Health Scholars. I have a passion for applying my medical aspirations to serve underserved communities, and in particular hope to be a force for social equity in hispanic neighborhoods. Academically, I have a great interest in Latin American, medical, and medieval history. Outside of my major, I have a fascination with all things biological, from immunology to paleontology. Although I am a lifelong resident of Southern California, with no intention of change, I hope to see as much of the world as possible within my lifetime.
