Nicole Belton-Mercado
Nicole Belton-Mercado is a fourth-year Transfer majoring in Psychology and minoring in Gender Studies. Nicole’s current research focuses on the intersection of LGBTQIA+ and Latinx identities and seeks to compare the mental health outcomes of these youth to heterosexual, non-Latinx peers. Nicole grew up in South East Los Angeles and is passionate about providing affordable, quality mental health services to their community. Nicole is particularly interested in utilizing an intersectional framework in order to effectively address the needs of different marginalized groups. Their project utilizes data from the publicly available ABCD Study dataset and is being mentored by Dr. Anna Lau and graduate student Blanche Wright.
