The Spring into Research program supports freshmen, sophomores, and first-year transfers who are interested in pursuing undergraduate research in the humanities, arts, or social sciences.

The selected participants are not required to conduct research during the program, but will learn about the opportunities available for undergraduate research at UCLA, tips to get started and find a faculty mentor, along with strategies, tools, and resources available to support each stage of the research process. By the end of the program students will be expected to have a fully formed research or creative arts proposal, and to have identified a potential faculty mentor for their proposed project.

Participants are required to attend the Cornerstone Workshop series and complete program related assignments. Participants will also receive a $350 scholarship upon full completion of the program.

  • Current UCLA freshmen, sophomores, and first-year transfer students
  • Interested in pursuing undergraduate research in humanities, arts, or social sciences
  • Preference will be given to students who have not participated or are not currently participating in a UCLA research program
